Delhi, 16.11.22
On 16th November 2022, I was invited to
attend Spiritz Conclave and Achievers’ Award 2022 in Delhi, India. It was a
one-day long event that was divided into two parts: ThinkPad sessions in
morning time and Awards Ceremony during evening time. While these two segments
were going on in the Pearl ballroom at The Leela Ambience, Gurugram; there were
various liquor stalls showcasing their best drinks in the open area outside the
ballroom.
For my lovely readers who are not aware with SpiritzMagazine – “Spiritz is a monthly magazine –offering an exciting &
informative view of the ever-growing liquor and hospitality sector. Virtually,
entire spectrum of Alcobev industry –manufacturers, importers, distributors, retailers
and hospitality –hotels, bars, pubs & resorts –is prominently covered in
the magazine” (as mentioned on their website).
In the first part of the event, ThinkPad sessions
raised healthy discussions around various topics such as:
- Key Worries for Alcobev Companies
Despite Volume Gains
- FTA between India and Other Countries
- Post-Covid Trends in Alcohol
Consumption
- Are Hotels and Bars Back to Pre-Covid
Time?
Each session was of about 1 hour that focused on key
speakers sharing their valuable inputs and experiences to enrich the audience
around it. Some of the highlight points revolved around excise duty policies in
Delhi and other neighboring states, people being more open to exploring with
drinks and liquor, coming of new trends in the liquor industry and various ways
in which alcobev industry could thrive with the help of the government.
In evening, the atmosphere of the event changed from
discussions to enjoyment. The ballroom became lively, festive and shiny. The
awards ceremony had begun in full swing with all stalls being opened to serve
guests with amazing cocktails, whisky, wine and other liquor options. The
awards were given for various categories such as best packaging, Travel
Retailer, Company of the Year, CSR award and much more. (You can view more
details on Spiritz social media page).
Let’s deep dive into some of the drinks, I tried:
- Devans Modern Breweries offered a wide range of beers to choose from. I tried their Six Fields Wheat Beer and was completely blown by the smoothness of it. It was a yummy start for a day-long drink affair.
- - I tasted fine white wine from Grover Zampa Vineyards that went down my system as silky as a pearl. Shiny night and silky wine, make a great pair!
- - Next from line, I tried an amazing refreshing whisky-based cocktail made from Tamerline blended Scotch whisky by Rad Elan stall.
- - Jack Daniel is a known name when it comes to liquor. A good old whisky stall serving freshly brewed cocktails was my center of attention. I loved the blend in the drink – a glass that can be slowly slurped while chit-chatting with friends.
- Another whisky that shined through the night was Scottish Leader Original blended Scotch. Drink it as cocktail or drink it on the rocks – one cannot go wrong with it.
- Making its way through the liquor stalls was MarimBula stall – the only one with non-alcoholic beverage. I tried their cucumber-based drink which just refreshed my senses in minutes.
Overall, it was a night full of love, laughter,
happiness and liquor. With that note, I conclude my post, expressing my
heartfelt gratitude and thanks to Bishan Uncle and Shalini Aunty (editors and
owner of Spiritz magazine) to invite a humble person like me. It was a glorious
celebration for the industry and key players from this industry.
I wish more success, name and fame to Spiritz magazine
as it steps into its 14th year.
