We Desi is a
well-known restaurant. As the name suggests, it has Indian cuisine as its specialty but with a twist. The chef is specialized in fusion food and every
dish on the menu is tried and tested. As you dig into these dishes, you can
know that the mind behind them is really creative and experienced.
Here’s what I
tried:
Kiwility: An excellent drink made from milk and
Kiwi. It was served in a huge glass as seen in the picture. It was quite
refreshing in the hot and humid weather of Ahmedabad. It was also a perfect
complimentary drink with the food.
Crispy Rice Spinach Soup: I have tried many soups till now but
this one was one of the best soups; I had. From the consistency to taste;
everything was flavorful in this soup. Being rice based soup, it was very
filling. It was a perfect blend of rice and spinach. I liked the fried crispy
pieces on the soup as they added the extra crunch.
Mexican Tortilla Salad: A little touch of Mexican and a
little bit of Indian turned this salad into a relishing experience in itself.
The salad was little and crunchy and just like the Kiwi drink, I enjoyed it
throughout my dinner spread.
Chandani Chowk Ki Tikki: A local delicacy served with little
twist. These potatoes tikki was stuffed with cheese to give a different taste.
They were deep fried to perfection that gave it a wholesome taste.
Paneer Khurchan, Paneer Tikka Garlic
Methi Masala, and Naan: The main course consisted of two different types of Paneer, which were
their house specialties. The Paneer Khurchan gravy had base in pepper and
onions, which gave it a really good color and flavors. Whereas the Paneer Tikka
Garlic Methi Masala was made in green gravy; made from fenugreek and Indian
Masalas.
Saffron Tarkari Briyani: This one is MUST try!! The Briyani
was given dum in a coconut shell, which enhanced its flavors. I like the way it
was served. It was a wholesome meal in itself – slowly cooked Briyani serves
with Raita.
Dry fruit hot Sizzling Brownie: This brownie was a little different
as it was made from dry fruits. Of course, it was very heavy and served on a
sizzler plate. It was topped with ice-cream. I would suggest anyone who wants
to try this to try it on an empty stomach. I wasn’t able to finish it at all
but I am definitely lovely desert.
What I liked
about this place was their unique cutlery. Everything was served in copper
utensils and as per the dish.
