Palm oil is one of the popular oil that is consumed in today’s world. There is a lot of debate going on this topic as to whether it is advisable to consume it or not. Here’s debunking all your questions on it:
What is Palm Oil?
Palm Oil’s scientific name is Elaeis Guineenis. This oil is made from the fruit of palm trees. There are two types of oil that are produced from the fruit: crude, which is comes from squeezing the fruit and other Kernel oil, which is produced by crushing the Kernel. Due to its quality of being versatile edible oil, palm oil is quite popular and largely available in all kinds of food products such as pizza, doughnut, etc.

-          Palm Oil has longer shelf life, which makes it an obvious choice by food industry.
-          It is colorless and odourless so doesn’t change the look or taste of the food, which again is a bonus feature as it helps in retaining a dish's originality palette.

-          Easy to be produced and sourced. 
Uses of Palm Oil:
Because of its versatile nature, Palm oil is used in various ways:
-          Food preparations such as cooking, frying, spreads, confectionary fats and frozen desserts like ice creams.
-           It is also used in making everyday products like:
o   Toothpaste, deodorant, soap, lipstick, shampoo, hair conditioner, laundry detergents, fabric softeners etc.

Palm Oil is known to prevent some of the diseases such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, cancer, brain diseases, and aging. It is also helpful to maintain hair health, bone health, skin health, muscle health, etc.
Other benefits of Palm Oil are:
-          One of the Sources of Vitamin E: One of the well-known anti-oxidant is Vitamin E, which when consumed on daily basis prevents you from falling prey to chronic diseases and also delays the aging process.
-          One of the Sources of Vitamin A: Some studies prove that Palm Oil is rich in Vitamin A as well. Hence, a consumer is less likely to fall prey to Vitamin A deficiency by combining Palm oil in your daily diet along with other Vitamin A rich food items.
-          Food Security and Land Benefits of Palm Oil
Palm Oil isn’t limited just to above factors. One of the most important factors of Palm Oil is that it more efficient and uses less land as compared to other oil seeds. This gives the scope to plant more fruits and/or vegetables in the remaining land area.
 Currently, palm oil supplies 35% of world’s need of vegetable oil by using just 10% of land. This proves that Palm oil is hence effective in plantation and growth. The countries mainly producing Palm Oil include Africa, South – East Asia, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
Is Palm Oil an easy target?
It is widely acknowledged for being available easily, which makes it an easy target by other competitors. There are many rumours going around Palm Oil such as it isn’t good for health, it is harmful to nature, etc., but those aren't true. As discussed above, Palm Oil is nutritious and has many health benefits, which in turn helps in maintaining a healthy diet and body.
In fact, many countries are using sustainability methods for Palm Oil cultivation, which shows that how necessary and important this oil is. This also proves that companies and organisations associated with manufacturing of Palm Oil are taking care of nature by using methods that are nature friendly. 
It is quickly available and sourced as compared to other oils, which makes it difficult to switch to other oil consumption. Also, not to forget that it has become an everyday habit that makes it more of a reason to not be able to do so. Since it is widely available in all of daily consumption food items and household items; our body is quite habituated to have this without our conscious realization.
