Panner and Aloo Tikka

Paneer/Aloo tikka is an Indian dish made from chunks of paneer marinated in spices and grilled in a tandoor. Chunks of paneer, a type of fresh cheese, are marinated in spices and are then arranged on a stick with capsicums and onions. It is accompanied by salad or mint chutney.

This recipe will unfold how to make it at home by using basic amenities at disposal. Also, you can use small potatoes for aloo (Hindi name for potatoes) tikka. A quick, easy and scrumptious starter – favorite for all age groups.


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Paneer – diced
  • 1 cup small potatoes – boiled
  • 2 big onions – diced
  • 2 green capsicum – diced
  • 1 cup hung curd - at room temperature
  • 1 cup coriander – chopped
  • ½ cup mint leaves - chopped
  • 2 tablespoon peanuts
  • One onion – chopped
  • Salt – as per taste
  • 1 teaspoon chiliflakes
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 2 teaspoon chaat masala
  • 1 small cup of lemon juice
  • Oil – for frying
  • Water

Method:

Preparation

  • Dice panner and boil the potatoes
  • Cut capsicum in equal size as  panner
  • Slit onion into four and separate its petals.

Marinating

  • Take 1 cup hung curd in a bowl.
  • Add in salt, chat masala, chili flakes and oregano. Mix it well.
  • Soak in Panner cubes and potatoes pieces in it.
  • Cover n leave for one hour.


For making Tikka's

  • Heat oil in a non stick pan
  • Take four piece of panner and fry them from both sides till it starts to get little golden.
  • Repeat same procedure for remaining panner and potatoes.
  • Dip the capsicum and onions in the remaining mix and fry them.
  • In a fork, slide in capsicum followed by paneer/potatoes and onions.
  • Repeat the process.
  • Serve with freshly made chutney

For Chutney:

  • In a mixer, take freshly cut coriander with handful of pudiana.
  • Throw in salt, one chopped onion, peanuts.
  • Add little water and mix till a thick consistency
  • Put in lemon juice and serve it fresh with tikkas.
